Once upon a time ...
February 4th, 2013 Kansas City - Back, when the US were the greatest nation on Earth
One upon a time, the USA was the greatest nation on Earth. Unemployment was at 4.6%, people had houses, and while the Dow Jones wasn't as high as today, the average income was higher. And by the way, back then, national debt was about $8 trillion. Whether it was technology, military power, economic power, even for ethic guidelines, people all over the World looked to America. Not even America's fiercest enemies doubted, America would give up some basic principles like freedom or democracy, even there was always a struggle how far America would go to defend those principles. Mostly this struggle happened in America. Which in a way was just another sign, how great this country was ... once upon a time.
Lets face it, the USA seen from Europe back in the days, that appeared to be hardcore. Gun-slinging Texans painting their houses in weird colors, ready to beat everyone in the face who had the idea of oppressing his own folks or kill them by use of chemical WMDs. And yes, last time, I checked C-weapons were still classified as WMDs. Americans were young, strong, bold and, seen with European eyes, wild and weird. For Europeans there were only two options to see America and Americans. Either one had to love them, with some longing envy, because they were what Europeans couldn't be anymore or to hate them with outright jealousy because they were what Europeans couldn't be anymore.
As I said, that was once upon a time. When Americans drove Hummers and told everyone, who wanted to mess with them, to kiss them where the sun doesn't shine.
But that was once upon a time and times have changed since then. America slid down to #2 in economy, sliding further down. America is now #6 when it comes to spacefare. America is #2 in military power and she is loosing international influence fast. Declared enemies of America have won ground, striving openly for nuclear weaponry and playing the terror game all over the place, sometimes even armed by America and paid for with American taxpayer's money. And in the country, the food lines are as long as they haven't been since 1929. Every sixth American kid is undernourished nowadays. And the numbers are raising, every day. The national debt is now at almost $17 trillion. Unemployment is officially 7.9% but there is a number of about 23 million American workers not counted anymore because they ran out of benefits. Something, that was basically unknown once upon a time.
At this point, some people are probably already yelling at me, calling me names. Because I mention, what everybody knows. America voted for change, America got change. And when America had the chance to correct the mistake, a mix of denial, shame and ideological forming made it possible for a lot of people to vote for more hungry kids, for more debt, for a faster decline of the US. And they don't want to hear that. They don't like those facts. I wrote a while ago an article and asked Obama's voters to take responsibility for what they gave their vote for. Not one did. Because everyone knows, once upon a time, that is only about six years ago. Pre-Obama. Even it sounds now like another world, fairy-tale-like. Because a lot of people can't even imagine anymore, how it was to have always food on the table and having a job to pay the bills.
Well, in the meantime, we have February. We know, Obama wants guns off the streets, money for police is cut, so we can be sure, they won't be

He gave his word - the same thing he broke over and over in the past

there in time if one of us becomes victim of a crime and the courts, filled with judges rather making politics from the bench than speaking the law, make sure, those who would kill you will not serve too much time. Well, about half of us voted for that. And sheep can't complain too much if someone shears them. Especially not if the sheep decided to be sheep. But be at least honest here. The hostage situation in Alabama, it is not result fo lack of gun laws in the first place, it is result of police not acting years earlier when the same perpetrator threatened neighbors and killed a neighbors dog with a stell pipe. But they waited. Some time later the same guy shot at a neighbor but missed. Police waited. Now there is a five year old boy held hostage the third day ... and Obama's followers try to make political profit from the situation by claiming, it all about guns.
What else do we know? Oh yeah, Obama promised to work on gay politics and minority politics. Like in 2009, right after he was voted in, he conforms his promises from the camapaign trail. However, like in 2009, there is no sign, he will actually keep any of those promises. But while his politcal opponents therefore have no reason for worrying at least on that front, those, who voted for him should start worrying. I mean, okay, Hispanics fell for Obama once and he didn't keep promises. But twice? There is thing thing with "fool me once ...", remember? Oh yeah, and the gays. I have no problem with them as long as they can accept, there are other people around, who are not gay. So we can maybe agree not to jump into each other's face every time, but that's what there is basically needed to find a socially agreeable way as far as I'm concerned. However, I had this little exchange of posts on Yahoo in which an openly gay guy claimed, Obama has done more for gays than any other President. I asked him what Obama did and surprise, the repeal of DADT came up and his decision not to defend DOMA. Now, isn't that just great? The repeal of DADT is a good thing, only it had to be done right with time to prepare the military infrastructure for it. As it is now, at some point, something will go down the wrong way and all Obama did, was marking every gay and lesbian in the military as potential victim. And DOMA? DOMA is decided on State-level, not on federal level. All Obama did, was emanating hot air to get your vote, he has not even influence on the subject. So, dear gay and lesbian activists, you fell for a scam that is about as bright as the Nigerian Princess. But it worked, you believed the scam, you paid with your votes. So do you really expect, you will get something for it? Now? After he is re-elected now and doesn't need you anymore?
And that is the point, were conservatives break out in laughter and liberals call them names for that.
Any other minorites hoping to get something for the votes, they gave Obama. Oh yes, African-Americans. When Bush left, about a quarter of them was unemployed, after Obama's first term, it was already half of them and you can do the math ... oh wait, you can't. No, wait, you can, because you got the chance to go to school before Obama. Your kids however, they are screwed, because federal grants are cut down while a college costs more than double of what is cost under Bush. So what will you get from Obama? Nothing? No, not nothing. More unemployment and fines for Obamacare in 2014. Of course, fines will not give you the income to afford health insurance, so you will still have no health insurance. And so the fines will come again. Speaking of gifts that keep on giving.
Now here is the rub: Liberals dipped America in and they have a responsibility for the things, they voted for. Still, America can't afford, to leave behind the poor, the burdened. Conservatives know it, it is part of American history. So while they have responsibility, we have to find a way, to get them back in the boat. It's like "no American left behind", whether it's a mentally retarded kid or a liberal. Because one day, Obama is gone. We have to live together then, in the same country. And America will return to greatness.
